Terms of Service

Last updated August 25, 2026

Agreement

These terms are between you and Nathan R., an individual sole proprietor operating True To-do ("we", "us"). By using the app or this site you accept them. If you don't, don't use it.

Who can use True To-do

You must be at least 18 years old and able to form a binding contract to use True To-do or to purchase Pro. By using the app you confirm that you meet these requirements. If you are using it on behalf of an organization, you confirm you are authorized to bind that organization to these terms.

The free tier

The free tier is free with no time limit and no payment behind it, and the features listed as free stay free. It runs entirely on your device, which means you are responsible for your own data — we hold no copy and cannot recover anything you lose by clearing the browser storage or site data for the app, or by losing the device. Removing the installed app may or may not clear that storage, depending on your browser and platform — clearing the site's storage is what reliably deletes it.

Pro, billing, and renewal

Pro costs $29 per year or $4 per month, charged in US dollars at purchase and automatically renewed each period until you cancel. You can cancel any time from your account settings; cancelling stops the next charge and Pro keeps working through the period you already paid for.

Prices may change, but never mid-term — a change applies only at your next renewal, and we will email you in advance of that renewal with the old and new price and the date it takes effect, so you can cancel first if you don't want it.

Taxes may be added where required. Payments are processed by Stripe, and using Pro means also accepting their terms for the payment itself.

If you are a consumer in the EU or UK, you have a statutory right to withdraw from the purchase within 14 days. Contact support@truetodo.com to exercise it. Our 30-day first-purchase guarantee below is more generous and, in practice, covers the same ground; neither replaces any mandatory right your local law gives you.

Refunds

30 days, no questions asked, on your first Pro purchase.Email support@truetodo.com within 30 days of your first Pro purchase and we refund it in full and cancel the subscription for you — one email, nothing else to do. We don't ask why and we don't make you argue for it.

The guarantee applies once per customer, to your first Pro purchase — it is there so you can try Pro without risk, not as a way to use Pro for a period and then reclaim the cost. Renewal charges and any later subscription are not covered by it, and cancelling and signing up again does not start a new 30 days.

After 30 days a charge is not refundable, except where the law where you live says otherwise — those rights are not affected by anything here.

If we refund a subscription, Pro features end and your synced weeks stop syncing. Export anything you want to keep first.

Your content is yours

Everything you write in True To-do belongs to you. We claim no ownership of it. The only permission you give us is the narrow, practical one required to run Pro: to store, transmit, and display your content back to you and to your own devices. That permission ends when you delete the content or close the account. We do not use your content to train models or to build anything else.

Our software and brand

True To-do — the application and this site, along with their code, design, user interface, look and feel, documentation, and the "True To-do" name and logo — belongs to Nathan R. and is protected by copyright, trademark, and other laws. Nothing in these terms transfers any of that to you.

While these terms are in effect we grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use True To-do for your own purposes, subject to these terms. You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, lease, or create derivative works of the software, reverse-engineer it except to the extent that restriction is unenforceable where you live, or use our name or logo without our written permission. All rights we do not expressly grant are reserved.

Using the service

Don't:

  • break into, overload, or probe the service or other people's accounts;
  • resell, sublicense, or repackage True To-do as your own product or service;
  • use it to store or distribute anything illegal, or to violate someone else's rights;
  • rely on it as the system of record for regulated or exceptionally sensitive data it isn't built to protect — medical records, account credentials, full payment-card numbers, or government identity numbers (see the Privacy Policy);
  • work around the paywall, or share one Pro account across a group as a way of avoiding paying for it.

Pro is licensed for one person's own devices. Normal personal use across your phone, laptop, and tablet is exactly what it's for.

If Pro lapses

Cancelling or letting a subscription lapse does not lock you out of your own writing. The app keeps working on the free tier, the weeks on that device stay where they are, and export is available at every tier, including free — so you can always take a full copy of everything with you. What stops is syncing between devices and cloud backup of new weeks.

The copy of your weeks already on our servers is retained indefinitely after a lapse. We do not delete it on a schedule, and we do not send warnings before removing a non-subscriber's cloud content because we do not proactively remove it — it goes away only when you ask us to delete it or close the account (see the Privacy Policy). If you resubscribe, syncing resumes against that retained data.

Accounts

Keep your sign-in credentials to yourself; you are responsible for what happens under your account. Tell us promptly if you think it has been compromised.

Ending it

Closing your account also cancels your Pro subscription — it will not renew or charge you again. Before we go ahead we show you what closure removes and let you export everything first (export works at every tier). Closure then permanently deletes your synced weeks from our servers; the copies on your own devices are untouched, and you can clear the app's storage on each device to remove them. If you close your account within the 30-day first-purchase window we treat that as your refund request and refund it in full; otherwise the current period is not refunded. See the Privacy Policy for exactly what is deleted and what we are required to keep.

You can stop using the app or close your account at any time. We can suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, and for anything other than a serious or repeated violation we will give you notice and a chance to fix it first. If we close a paid account for a reason that isn't your fault, we refund the unused portion.

We may also discontinue Pro entirely. If that ever happens, we will give at least 30 days' notice, provide a way to export your data, and refund the unused portion of what you paid.

No warranty

True To-do is provided "as is". We do the work to keep it reliable, but we do not warrant that it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that sync will never fail. To the fullest extent the law allows, we disclaim the implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, or for lost data or lost profits.Our total liability for any claim is capped at what you paid us in the 12 months before it arose — which, on the free tier, is nothing. Some jurisdictions don't allow these limits, so they may not apply to you.

Because the free tier keeps your only copy on your own device, backing up anything you can't afford to lose is on you.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, USA, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules, and the courts located there have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute. If you are a consumer elsewhere, this does not remove protections your local law gives you.

Changes

We may update these terms. The date at the top changes when we do, and for a material change we will email Pro account holders before it takes effect. Continuing to use the service after a change means accepting it.

Business transfers

If True To-do is sold, merged, reorganized, or its assets are otherwise transferred — in whole or in part, including in connection with an insolvency — these terms and your account may be assigned to the successor, who takes them on as they stand. You may not assign or transfer your rights under these terms without our consent.

Odds and ends

If any part of these terms is unenforceable, the rest stands. Not enforcing something once doesn't waive it. These terms, plus the Privacy Policy, are the whole agreement between us.
